In Korea, there is a honorific. That means you have to use the words of respect to the older person and people
that you meet for the first time and is not close.
For example please sir, could you please do something and would you like something.
If you can speak Korean, it should be used to anyone , anywhere.
What if a person don’t you it ? Probably the person would to be talk that he is a rude person and would not wnat to talk him.
In Korea, a few years ago, there was a hot issue on the internet. During working, on old famous woman swear
at the young famous woman in loud voice and then old woman was insulted from the many people
but turns out, young woman talked down to the old woman in whispers.
As a result, the young woman stop making television appearances.
As I said, In korea, it is significant because using it is respecting other people and if I use it, other would respect me in return.
So, It needs to be maintained.
